The Writing Center at AlYamamah University organized a workshop titled “Convince Me or Prove It? – Persuasion vs. Argumentation,” aimed at strengthening students’ academic writing and critical thinking skills while enhancing their ability to construct well-supported arguments and communicate ideas effectively.
The workshop explored the key distinctions between persuasion based on emotional appeal and argumentation grounded in logical reasoning and evidence. Participants were introduced to strategies for developing clear academic theses supported by credible sources and well-structured arguments.
The session also provided students with opportunities to apply these concepts through interactive discussions and practical activities designed to improve their ability to express opinions, present ideas, and defend arguments in a systematic and persuasive manner.
