MGT 101: This course is an introduction to the principles of good management and the effective utilization of human and material resources to achieve the objectives of an enterprise. The course emphasizes not only planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling functions of management, but also includes such factors as effective communications and relationships, motivation, and managing for change.
MGT 300: This course is designed to provide students with an overview of international business principles and strategies applicable to conducting business in a dynamic and volatile global economy in the era of globalization. International business principles and practices are examined as part of understanding the critical issues in international business in pursuit of formulating global business strategic planning. Prerequisite: MGT 102 & ECO 202
MGT 301: A primary goal of this course is to provide an introduction to the field of operations management. It is designed to highlight the practical and applied techniques, which lead to improve the organization’s quality and productivity and gain an understanding of how to make operations a competitive weapon. This course will provide students with a broad understanding and knowledge of several operations management concepts. Prerequisite: MGT 102 & ECO 202
MGT 302: Integrates topics of management and organization theory, information and communication theory, and systems theory relevant to managing an organization’s information resources. Includes computer hardware and software, telecommunications, and database concepts and emphasizes the e-commerce and Internet based business models to to be competitive in the marketplace. Prerequisite: MIS 201
MGT 303: The course will impart an understanding of the key characteristics of successful entrepreneurs and ventures – both start-up entrepreneurship as well as corporate entrepreneurship. It also instigates participants to establish or understand ventures, based on a realistic view of the benefits and tradeoffs. Finally, it provides the students with skills required in identifying and evaluating opportunities, developing strategies for growth and securing the resources required. Prerequisite: MGT 102 & ECO 202
MGT 304: Quantitative approach is one of the scientific methods in making business decisions. In this method, such mathematics formulas, models, or heuristic/algorithms are used in determining decision variables we want to solve. Quantitative approach disregards emotional/ psychological content that may affect decision makers in formulating problems, finding appropriate alternatives, gathering appropriate/ relevant data, testing the result and in applying the decision. Prerequisite: MGT 301
MGT 312: This course familiarizes the students with the concepts of quality assurance in the changing global environment. It helps them to understand the applications of knowledge management, process management, and performance measurement. The course helps to understand the concepts like supply chain, six sigma principle, leadership, and strategic planning in the competitive business environment. Prerequisite: MGT 305
MGT 408: This course aims to understand the stakeholders of an organization, types of managers, ethics and organizational culture. The course emphasizes on the understanding of concepts like authority, control, specialization, coordination, completeness, technology, and challenges of organizational design and structure. Further, the course enhances decision making skills in the context of learning, knowledge management, innovation, entrepreneurship, creativity, managing conflicts, power and politics. Prerequisite: MGT 301
MGT 409: This course prepares students with skills necessary to seek further education and employment in the career field of training and development. Students taking this course will understand several learning theories and about program design. The students will understand various issues related to transfer of training, training evaluation, traditional and e-learning training methods. The course focuses on employee development, methods of employee development, special issues in training and development, career and career management. Prerequisite: MGT 301
MGT 416: Focuses on application of information technologies (IT) to system life cycle methodology, systems analysis, systems design, and system implementation practices. Covers methodologies related to identification of information requirements, feasibility in the areas of economic, technical and social requirements, and related issues. Software applications may be used to enhance student skills. Prerequisite: MGT 301
MGT 422: This course will provide students with a broad understanding and knowledge of several supply chain management concepts. Such concepts include (but are not limited to) supply chain distribution strategy, supply chain network planning, global logistics & risk management, supply chain integration and strategic alliances. Emphasis will be placed on the application of these concepts to actual business situations. Prerequisite: MGT 301
MGT 425: The purpose of this course is to highlight issues involved in the management of human resources (HRM), both from existing theory as well as practice. The course will examine humans at work and discuss various aspects which are basic to human motivation at work and in satisfying career aspirations within organizations. The main HRM issues and practices will be covered in this course such as job analysis and design, recruiting and selection, performance appraisal, motivation, compensation management, training and development. Prerequisite: MGT 102
MGT 441: This course enables the students to understand the global environmental factors influencing formulation, implementation and control of global strategies for international management of organizations. The students will understand the role of home and host culture for negotiations, decision making and communication across cultures; the relationship between strategy and structure; staffing issues for global operations. This course aims to develop highly motivated global management leaders with corporate social responsibility. Prerequisite: MGT 301
