New Faculty Induction (Annual Event): The New Faculty Induction Program is conducted annually to welcome newly appointed faculty members to the University. As part of the program, the Vice President for Academic Affairs addresses the new faculty members on behalf of the library and delivers a presentation highlighting the library’s services, resources, facilities, and support available for teaching, learning, and research.
Library Orientation Session for New Students: The Central Library conducts this orientation program at the beginning of every semester in collaboration with the Deanship of Admissions, Registration, and Student Affairs. During the session, library staff introduce new students to the library’s services, resources, and facilities. The orientation covers how to use the library computers and printers, search for and locate library resources, access the library’s electronic databases both on and off campus, borrow library materials, and make effective use of the library’s facilities and services.
“Meet Your Academic Advisor” Event: The “Meet Your Academic Advisor” event is conducted at the beginning of every semester and is organized by the Deanship of Admissions, Registration, and Student Affairs. The event is held in the Central Library, providing newly admitted students with an opportunity to meet their academic advisors. During the session, academic advisors guide students in developing their study plans, explain academic policies and procedures, and provide the information and support needed to help students begin their academic journey successfully.
Library Booth at the Student Reception Event: The Deanship of Admissions, Registration, and Student Affairs organizes the Student Reception Event annually in the middle of the Spring Semester. As part of this event, the library participates by setting up a dedicated booth at the TUWAIQ/NAJD Building to introduce students to the library’s services and resources. During the event, library staff(s) welcome students, provide an overview of the library’s services, facilities, and resources, and demonstrate how to search for library materials, access electronic databases and online resources, and make effective use of the library’s physical and digital services. The library booth also serves as an opportunity for students to ask questions and become familiar with the support available to enhance their academic success.
“Library Day” for Students at All Levels: The Al Yamamah University Library organizes Library Day annually at the beginning of the Spring Semester for students at all academic levels. The event is held at the TUWAIQ/NAJD Building and aims to promote the importance of libraries as centers of knowledge, encourage reading habits, and raise awareness of the library’s extensive collection of print and electronic resources, facilities, and services.
As part of the event, the Library Manager assigns a library staff to interact with students and provide guidance on how to access and effectively use the library’s resources and services, both on and off campus. Library staff also demonstrate how to search the online catalog, access electronic databases, borrow library materials, and utilize other available library facilities.
During the event, the library showcases its latest collections, newly acquired resources, and enhanced services. Library brochures, user guides, and other informational materials are also displayed and distributed to help students become familiar with the library’s resources and support services.
Class Visits: The Al Yamamah University Library welcomes students and faculty for class visits whenever requested by academic departments or faculty members. These visits are arranged throughout the academic year based on instructional needs. To facilitate the visit, the concerned department or faculty member submits the class schedule in advance via an email, enabling the library to prepare the required space, equipment, and other necessary facilities.
During each class visit, library staff provide guidance and assistance by introducing students and faculty to the library’s facilities, collections, resources, and services. Staff also offer instruction on how to locate and access print and electronic resources, use the library’s systems and facilities, and make effective use of the library’s academic support services.
