Al Yamamah University Sponsors the Inaugural “Aqarathon” in Partnership with the General Real Estate Authority

Al Yamamah University sponsored the first edition of “Aqarathon,” launched by the General Real Estate Authority , marking the Kingdom’s first national competition that combines technological innovation and real estate vision . The initiative aims to develop creative solutions that enhance the sustainability and efficiency of the real estate sector , while empowering youth to contribute to shaping the future of this vital industry.
During the closing ceremony held on the university campus, Mr. Abdulrahman bin Khaled Al Khudair , CEO of Al Yamamah University , welcomed Mr. Abdullah bin Saud Al-Hammad , CEO of the General Real Estate Authority , along with a distinguished group of industry leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs who participated in the event.
In his speech, Mr. Al Khudair emphasized that “Aqarathon” was not presented merely as a competition, but as a national platform that unites ambition with ability, and ideas with execution . He highlighted the innovative solutions developed by participating youth, noting that their contributions demonstrate their capacity to transform creative ideas into tangible achievements that align with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 , supporting the nation’s transformation toward a knowledge-based and innovation-driven economy .
He further added that hosting this pioneering event reflects the university’s commitment to supporting national initiatives and its belief in the importance of bridging academic knowledge with real-world application , particularly in sectors that play a critical role in the future of the Saudi economy and real estate development.
The “Aqarathon” activities witnessed wide participation from student and entrepreneurial teams , who took part in intensive training camps to develop innovative real estate solutions addressing existing challenges and proposing new visions for the future of housing and urban development . Participants advanced from the ideation stage to practical prototype presentations before the judging panel, in an experience that combined creativity, teamwork, and competitive spirit , reflecting the passion and potential of youth in shaping the Kingdom’s real estate future .
Dr. Moudhi Al-Otaibi , Assistant Professor at the College of Business, Al Yamamah University , participated as a member of the final judging panel , alongside a distinguished group of experts and professionals in the real estate and housing sectors , to evaluate the projects and support solutions that benefit both individuals and society.
At the end of the ceremony, Al Yamamah University was honored , represented by its CEO, Mr. Abdulrahman Al Khudair , in recognition of its role as host and sponsor of this national event — reaffirming the university’s dedication to empowering young talent and fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship .
