College of Law

Al-Yamamah University established the Law Department in 2014, stemming from its academic mission, and in light of the rapid legislative and judicial developments that the country is witnessing. Such developments are represented in the organization of the legislation through modernizing and completing the legislative structure to cover various financial, investment, and social activities.

In 2018, the Ministry of Education approved changing the name to (College of Law), which aims to prepare highly qualified national legal cadres to shoulder the responsibility for the advancement of rights and legal aspects in the country.

The study in the College of Law is distinguished by the presentation of the academic subject matter in an innovative, scientific, and cognitive form that takes into consideration the complementarity among academic qualification and theoretical training and teaching in English.

Student in the undergraduate program study in their first year various legal and non-legal subjects that are necessary to give them the necessary foundation for the study of law. Following that, they study the fundamentals of multiple legal disciplines such as Criminal Law, Commercial Law, and Procedural Law. They are also given the opportunity to choose from a variety of more specialized legal topics, such as medical, athletic, and insurance law, according to a study plan approved by consultants and academic experts in law.

First of all, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the website of the College of Law at Al Yamamah University, and I am pleased to introduce you to this important college, which was established in 2018 as an extension of the Law Department previously opened in 2014. The College of Law features two Bachelor’s degree programs: Public Law and Private Law in addition to the recently-created MBA in Law.

In light of the importance of the English language as an essential requirement in the labor market, it has been adopted as the language of instruction for law. This has been a crucial addition for students who are being prepared in English by the INTERLINK International Institute in the University.

In order to create a generation with strong academic and practical foundation, the College of Law has employed experts and qualified faculty in the field. Our faculty aspire to develop and pair application with theory in their teaching approach. They have research contributions and extensive participation in international conferences, which allows them direct access to international legal developments. In addition, it is necessary to develop students’ personalities and provide them with the necessary communication skills, which enable them to deal professionally with all the challenges they face. Therefore, the college is dedicated to a teaching model that makes use of real-life cases to create opportunities for students to work in important sectors, both public and private, in the future.  This includes, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, and law firms as experts, legal advisors, prosecutors, in addition to other administrative fields. To this end the university has signed a number of agreements and MOUs with private and public entities, locally and internationally, in order to provide job opportunities and appropriate and adequate training for its students. Also, YU periodically holds workshops, and hosts experts in the labor market to benefit from their expertise.
