Closing ceremony of the Ghadha Initiative at Al Yamamah University
On Sunday, December 24, 2023, the “Ghadha” initiative, supported by the King Khalid Foundation, was concluded at Al Yamamah University, the spatial partner of the initiative, in honor of HH Princess Nouf bint Mohammed Al Saud, CEO of the King Khalid Foundation. Mrs. Noura Al-Otaibi, owner and supervisor of the initiative, explained that the idea of the initiative stemmed from the “Green Saudi Initiative” launched by HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. She added that the initiative works to support emerging green projects and empower promising youth ideas that are concerned with environmental sustainability, circular economy, increasing vegetation cover, and climate action, as it includes workshops and studies of projects concerned with green projects, in partnership with many local and international bodies.
Al-Otaibi stated that attracting international expertise will create pioneering paths concerned with sustainability, which will contribute to enhancing the quality of life by expanding the green area and creating job opportunities through pioneering projects in our dear country. She also pointed out that such qualitative green projects reduce the percentage of carbon emissions and contribute to spreading awareness of the sustainability of the green environment and green buildings, given that leadership in impact and its sustainability is considered one of the most important criteria for social investment. Hence the importance of the “Ghadha” initiative to spread awareness about green leadership among the people of the country.
It is noteworthy that the initiative presents nearly 100 projects, ranging from vertical farm projects to clean energy and recycling.
