Dr. Awwad Alnesafi

Director of EMBA / Associate Professor of Accounting

Biography

Dr. Awwad is associate professor at Al Yamamah University. He is the EMBA  Director and accounting program coordinator at the College of Business, Chair of the Appeal Committee and member of the College of Business Council.

Before joining Al Yamamah University, Dr. Awwad was an associate professor of accounting and the Chair of the Academic Programs at the American International University in Kuwait. He served in key administrative and leadership positions, such as Program Coordinator-Business Studies at Arab Open University, and member of International Advisory Board Frankfurt International Consulting, Germany. As well, he served on the Scientific Committee and Research and Development Committee at Arab Open university.

Dr. Awwad is an IFRS expert as he has been teaching IFRS based curriculum since 2014 at Arab Open University and American International University. He is an approved Trainer of IFRS for Ministry of Finance and the Tax Authority in Kuwait and approved trainer of ICAEW for ACA Certification. He has about 15 years of experience in teaching and consulting services His expertise can be summarized in the following areas:

  • IFRS
  • Accounting Information System
  • Strategic financial analysis and capital budgeting
  • Business restructuring, mergers and acquisitions and financial consolidations
  • Strategic costing and activity-based cost management systems

Dr. Awwad has a Ph.D. in accounting and finance from university of Essex, United Kingdom, 2010. As well, he has a master degree in accountancy with finance and banking minor from Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, 2001. His research interests include: Financial Accounting and Accounting Information System in Developing and Emerging Economies, and International Financial Reporting Standards.

Dr. Awwad is frequently invited by local and International cable TV stations such as CNBC and SkyNews to participate in discussions of areas, ranging from economic issues to public policies.
