Dr. Faqir Taj

Assistant Professor of MIS

Biography:

Dr. Faqir Taj is an Assistant Professor in the College of Business at Al Yamamah University. He has recently completed his PhD in Business Information System from RMIT University, Australia. The title of his PhD thesis is “The Coevolution of Organizational Routines and IT Systems in IT-enabled Organizational Transformation: A Social Constructivist Perspective”. The PhD thesis has won the best PhD thesis award in Information Systems from RMIT University, and has been nominated for the best Australian PhD in information systems.

Before pursuing PhD, Dr. Taj also qualified Master of Information Technology (2008) with high distinction and MBA (2010) from Macquarie University, Australia.  Prior Al Yamamah University, Dr. Taj was working in the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) as Assistant Professor of Information systems from 2014 to 2023. He had also worked in the IT industry at technical as well as managerial roles for more than 10 years before moving to the Academia. In Australia, he had the opportunity to work in the UNSW Business School as Oracle/Java Programmer and Web coordinator for 4 years. In Pakistan, He also worked in the Ministry Water and Power, Government of Pakistan for 6 years as a Systems Analyst.

Honors and Awards:

Won best PhD thesis award in Information System from RMIT University, and the thesis has also been nominated for the best Australian PhD in information systems. (2023)

Won the Best Student Reviewer Award at the Doctoral Consortium, the Australasian Conference on Information Systems, 2020, Wellington, New Zealand.  (2020)

Won the Best Paper Award (1st Prize) for the paper, presented in the 30th Australasian Conference on Information Systems, 2019 at Perth, Australia.  (2019)
