Biography

Over the past 15 years Halima Adan has enjoyed an exceptional and diverse career, which, at its core, is primary, concerned with supporting the positive development of the English as a Second language Community. Prior to working at Al Yamamah University, Ms. Halima was an ESL Instructor at Princess Noura University for 9 years. She was part of the assessment committee, a lead teacher and a mentor for new recruits. She was also an ESL Instructor for newcomers at a local community center in her hometown. Ms. Adan earned an honours degree in Political Science and History from the University of Toronto, Canada and holds both a TEFL for Academic purposes and Business English. Additionally, she has received her Cambridge CELTA from Toronto, Canada. She is currently pursing her Masters in Applied linguistics and TESOL from the University of Leicester.

Ms. Halima is well experienced in commanding student attention and managing both large and small classrooms. This has given her valuable experience in interacting with diverse student groups and using the most up to date teaching methods and available technology. Through high-interest learning materials, multiple means of assessment and careful modeling of new skills, Ms. Halima strives to ensure that every student achieves success.
