Ghazi Al-Gosaibi Award Ceremony at Al-Yamamah University Celebrates Cultural Excellence

On the evening of Tuesday, May 14, 2024, Al-Yamamah University hosted a distinguished event celebrating the winners of the Dr. Ghazi Al-Gosaibi Cultural Award in its second edition. Held in the Sheikh Mohammed Al-Khudair Hall, this biennial award recognizes outstanding contributions in literature, volunteering, and management and development.

The event was graced by the presence of notable dignitaries, including Mr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Khudair, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Abdulrahman bin Khaled Al-Khudair, CEO of Al Yamamah Education Company, Dr. Abdulwahed bin Khalid Al-Humaid, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Ghazi Al-Gosaibi Chair, and Dr. Omar Alsaif, General Secretary of the Chair.

The event featured the special appearance and participation of Mrs. Sigrid Al-Gosaibi, widow of the late Ghazi Al-Gosaibi, along with various esteemed guests, intellectuals, and enthusiasts of Dr. Al-Gosaibi’s work.

The ceremony commenced with a speech by Mr. Abdulrahman bin Khalid Al-Khudair, who highlighted the joy of celebrating achievements that resonate nationally. He emphasized Al-Yamamah University’s commitment to supporting development, culture, and social work. Following him, Dr. Abdulwahed bin Khalid Al-Humaid spoke about the award’s dedication to recognizing excellence in the Kingdom, noting the significant progress made towards national vision goals and the pivotal role of youth in this journey.

The event’s cultural atmosphere was further enriched by the screening of a documentary titled “Al-Gosaibi: Legacy and Impact” and a poetry recitation by university student Layan Al-Obaidi.

The evening culminated with the honoring of the award winners. The Literature Track Award was bestowed upon poet Dr. Abdullah bin Salim Al-Rasheed for his exceptional contributions to poetry. The Development and Management Track Award was given to the mobile telecommunications company Zain for its notable efforts in enhancing the work environment for women. The Volunteering Path Award was awarded to the Red Crescent Authority for its innovative work in environmental volunteering.

The ceremony was a testament to the enduring legacy of Dr. Ghazi Al-Gosaibi and the continuous efforts to celebrate and inspire cultural and social excellence in the Kingdom.
