Program Information

The objective of the MIS program is to provide the Saudi market with MIS entrepreneurs, leaders, and professionals. Our MIS graduates are exposed to a blended approach that combines theories with the best practices in the MIS to develop their critical thinking and technical skills that will allow them to create value for their organizations and contribute to the development of the Saudi economy in improving its productivity and competitiveness.

Our MIS graduates are expected to play a significant role in achieving the goals of Vision 2030 through supporting the Saudi digital transformation and technology advancements. As well, our graduates are equipped to be solution oriented and innovators that will create value for their organizations.

Educational Objectives (PEOs):

  • PEO 1. Demonstrate leadership in the design, development and management of information systems to confront the ever-changing global engineering and business environments.
  • PEO 2. Demonstrate sense of professionalism, ethical values, and commitment for society and the Management Information Systems profession.
  • PEO 3. Engage in lifelong learning through graduate studies and/or professional training for continued professional excellence.

 

Student Outcomes (SOs):

  1. Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
  2. Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
  3. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
  4. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
  5. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.

ABET Accreditation

ABET Accreditation

The Management Information Systems Program in the College of Business Administration was accredited by Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology (ABET). The accreditation action extends retroactively from October 1, 2018. ABET is the well-known and most prestigious US-based accreditation body for Engineering and Technology programs, and takes into considerations various assessment criteria related to students, program educational objectives, students outcomes, continuous improvement, curriculum, faculty, facilities, and institutional support. So, educational content and curriculum were reviewed to incorporate and focus on practical skills related to analyzing, designing, implementing, and evaluating computer-based solution. This revision is to enable MIS graduates from ABET accreditation achieve high-quality education. YU graduates, therefore, have confidence in their MIS major from ABET accredited-program, since their program meets standards essential to prepare them to enter critical STEM fields in the global workforce. MIS graduates of YU from the ABET accreditation are capable of leading the way in innovation, emerging technologies, and in anticipating the welfare and safety needs of the public.

YU has taken steady steps towards international accreditation due its beliefs in quality teaching and learning process. The accreditation of MIS program from ABET comes as a response to achieve such demand in educational competitive markets.
