Dr. Hikmat Ali

Professor of Architecture

Biography:

Hikmat H. Ali is a full professor of architecture and former dean of architecture and design at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST). He received his undergraduate degree in architectural engineering from Yarmouk University in Jordan in 1986, and his master's degree in architectural engineering from the University of Jordan in 1992. In 1999, he earned his Ph.D. in architecture from Texas A&M University.

Professor Ali began his career as a full-time lecturer at JUST in 1992. He then moved to Texas A&M University as a Ph.D. student, where he received a full scholarship from JUST. After graduating, he returned to JUST as an assistant professor, and later served as chairman of the Department of Architecture, associate professor, and vice dean of the College of Engineering. In 2008-2013, he worked as an associate professor at King Saud University in Saudi Arabia. In 2018, he was appointed dean of the College of Architecture and Design at JUST, a position he held for four years.

Professor Ali's research interests include sustainability, building assessment, social sustainability, energy efficiency in buildings, and integrated architectural design. He has published over 50 research articles in ISI and Scopus journals. He is also an active member of several professional organizations, and has served on the editorial boards of several journals.
