Biography:

Dr. Imene Essoussi-Tissier is an Assistant Professor in the Industrial Engineering department at the College of Engineering and Architecture (COEA) at Al Yamamah University (YU). She obtained her Ph.D. and master’s degrees in industrial engineering from the Grenoble Institute of Technology, University Grenoble Alpes, France, in 2010 and 2006, respectively. Additionally, she holds an Industrial Engineering degree from the National School of Engineers of Tunis, earned in 2005.

With over 13 years of experience across various international academic settings in France Tunisia, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, Dr. Essoussi-Tissier's expertise encompasses Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, and Operations Management. Her primary research stream focuses on healthcare system engineering, supply chain digitalization, and the design of resilient logistic systems using hybridization techniques, Fuzzy logic, stochastic modeling, and simulation.

Her main contribution to the healthcare system engineering is the design of collaborative, patient-centered, cost-effective healthcare delivery models. Her research examines the flexibility of healthcare organizations through local interactions and new paradigm shifts, prioritizing policy establishment, and resource allocation across multiple systems. Her recent research interests include the applications of artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, and data-driven approaches.

Before joining YU, Dr. Essoussi-Tissier served as an Associate Professor of Transportation & Logistics at Bahrain Polytechnic and as an Assistant Professor in Industrial Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering at King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia (2018–2021).  She is also a permanent Assistant Professor at the University of Sousse, Tunisia, at the Higher Institute of Transport and Logistics since 2011.

Additionally, Dr. Essoussi-Tissier has substantial experience in Higher education management. She chaired the research Master’s program in Transportation and Logistics at the Higher Institute of Transport and Logistics of Sousse (2014–2017) and the professional Master Program in International Logistics (2017-2018). She has been actively involved in the development and assessment of graduate programs and is well-versed in ABET, NCAAA, and other quality support programs.
